Project Manager - Business Process Improvement (Technology)

Job Overview:
 
The Project Manager - BPI Technology plans and executes the strategic vision and implementation of innovative technology solutions that drive key business processes and efficiency for Macy’s Private Brand teams and Merchandising teams. This position reports directly into the Director of BPI Technology.  Perform other duties as assigned.

The Project Manager will be known as a trusted, collaborative and results-oriented leader, business partner and change agent who can lead through influence. The ideal candidate needs to possess professional maturity and industry credibility. Candidates must be comfortable and effective leading through significant complexity who understand the equal importance of both strategic vision and orientation for speed.
 
Key Relationships:
 
• BPI Implementation team.
• Macy’s Merchandising management and key partners in Buying and Planning.
• New York based Private Brand teams (Product, Design, Technical Design, Color, Fabric, PI/QA).
• Private Brand Overseas Offices (Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan).
• Private Brand Technology (PBT).
• Macy’s Systems and Technology (MST).
• Third party software developer.
 
Essential Functions:
 
• Manage the project scope and timeline and appropriately allocate resources to support on time deliverables.
• Proactively identify risks and issues throughout the project and develop effective solutions to course correct as needed.
• Analyze and refine departmental tools, methods and processes.
• Establish task forces to gather input/feedback from subject matter experts on system needs, enhancements, and process changes in partnership with the BPI Implementation team.
• Keep all relevant parties informed on a timely basis of the project status, progress and potential roadblocks.
• Ensure final acceptance from the project sponsor/customer by establishing that the delivered approach complies with agreed deliverables and is aligned with business processes.
• Develop and manage high-performing direct reports, including onboarding, coaching, and mentoring.
• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience:
 
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 2-5 years managing medium to large scale projects, impacting multiple cross functional teams and user groups/audiences.
 
Communication Skills:
 
• Strong public speaker.
• Ability to communicate information to all levels, from assistants to executives, in a simple and understandable format, both written and orally.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key business stakeholders, subject matter experts and senior leadership.
 
Reasoning Ability:
 
• Creative problem solver with innovative approaches to solving complex problems experts and senior leadership.
 
Other Skills:
 
• Knowledge of the product development process or experience in buying and/or planning is a plus.
• Familiarity with one or more of the following retail merchandising processes and systems:
o Merchandise and Assortment Planning
o Replenishment / Forecasting
o Digital Execution/Workflow
o Allocation
o Purchase Order Management
o Price Management• Strong Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point skills.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills and experience managing one or multiple direct reports.
