The Strategic Procurement team at Macy’s is responsible for collaboratively developing and implementing non-merchandise spend management strategies in support of Macy’s Inc.’s overall corporate strategy and the company’s focus on ongoing profit improvement. Strategic Procurement is responsible for sourcing, procurement, vendor diversity, and spend analytics. Specifically, the sourcing team’s responsibilities include strategy and scoping, sourcing, negotiation, contracting, savings tracking, and vendor management. Evolution of the Strategic Procurement capability is a priority for Macy’s and we continue to seek top talent in support of this objective.
Responsible for conducting spend analysis, analyzing supply markets, identifying sourcing value levers, executing competitive RFI’s/RFPs and leading supplier negotiations. Leverages eSourcing technology platforms where appropriate. Develops and executes implementation plans to ensure sourcing benefits are fully realized. Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders within the divisions and corporate functions. Supports savings tracking processes and participates in special infrastructure-building projects as needed.
Essential Functions:
Supports strategic sourcing projects with Managers and Directors, following a 7-step sourcing methodology
Provides analysis of spend data and industry dynamics to prioritize and launch sourcing initiatives
Gathers stakeholder and subject-matter expertise/insights and business requirements to ensure sourcing solutions meet business needs
Helps prepare and present business cases and should-cost models
Supports process re-engineering, value engineering, and demand management opportunities to increase efficiencies
Manages the planning and launch of RFIs and RFPs
Performs data analysis and builds financial models (i.e. ROI, NPV, supplier scorecards, savings tracking, make vs. buy decision models)
Contributes to negotiation strategy development and negotiation execution
Supports supplier selection process and provides data to ensure informed selection decisions
Supports contracting and contract management processes
Develops qualified, competitive sources of supply on a continuing basis through comprehensive financial and market review
Assists in managing supplier relationships, tracking supplier performance, and communicating performance feedback to suppliers
Develops implementation and transition plans and supports change management initiatives
Builds relationships with stakeholders and supports development of business cases for new spend management opportunities
Works closely with Category Management team for the assigned category to ensure consistency in buying strategy
Implements and drives procurement strategy, policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, finance or related discipline
Basic knowledge of financial accounting, economic, operations, and business strategy concepts
Proficient in MS Office Suite
Technology-savvy to leverage eProcurement and eSourcing tools including but not limited to: SAP, Ariba, Spend Analysis tools.
Communication Skills
Strong communication skills including verbal and written communication, presentation skills, and ability to actively contribute in meetings
