Job Overview:
 
Marketing Decision Sciences plays a key role in Macy’s Inc.’s long-term OmniChannel strategy. The team empowers and drives the business through Dynamic Reporting, Predictive Modeling, Time Series Forecasting, and A/B Testing capabilities. 
 
As a leader of the Marketing Decision Sciences group, the Manager will be focused on driving business results in all matters pertaining to digital tactics planning and forecasting. The ideal candidate must be extremely detail oriented, self-driven, and an effective leader.  Additionally, she/he will need to be hands-on with day to day data analysis efforts and have the ability to work collaboratively with team members to drive actionable insights.  Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Essential Functions:
 
• Planning, forecasting and reporting across marketing tactics, device usage, family of business sales mix, and daily event marketing calendar. 
• Apply simulation, trending and data driven approaches to identify risks and opportunities, guide execution and support the predictable delivery of business results. 
• Drive key tactic, sales and efficiency KPI’s.
• Support digital marketing channel teams with seasonal budget planning.
• Build time series models to forecast future daily sessions, orders and sales.
• Have experience building marketing mix models.
• Understand the traditional sources of media (TV, Radio, Print, etc.) and measure their impact on future MCOM sales.
• Define data needs, evaluate data quality, and extract/transform data for analytic projects and research.
• Effectively communicate and document technical analyses and results.
• Help other members of the team in own areas of expertise.
• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality. 
 
Team Management:
 
• Guide, develop and support a team of two analysts/data scientists, and also recognize and develop talent.
• Foster and inspire a culture of innovation, collaboration, intense curiosity and a drive to “be the best.” 
• Guide the pragmatic approach to use advanced analytics, testing and new technologies to drive productivity, sales and a superior business result. 
• Balance work and deliverable demands (reactive) with a focus on proactive analysis.  Put effort and resources on highest impact topics.  Open up bandwidth by regularly identifying what not to do.
• Provide team with a clear sense of objective, ownership and accountability and a solid understanding of how what they do fits into the broader strategy of Macy’s. 
• Monitor project progress and work-flow to assure achievement of delivery commitments.  Provide guidance to successfully work across departments.
 
Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience:
 
• Masters in Applied Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics;  Advanced Degree Preferred.
• 5 years of experience solving complex business problems with advanced analytics/data in highly customer facing digital environment.
• 2 years managing analytic/data focused teams, preferably in a large enterprise environment.
• Experience in building time series forecasting models, media mix models, and regression models.
• Strong experience working with large data sets and advanced analytical tools and programming languages (SAS, R, SQL, Hadoop, etc).
 
Communication Skills:
 
• Senior/Executive-level communication is essential with ability to explain and sell analytics concepts.
 
Other Skills:
 
• Understanding of the objectives and success metrics across Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Site Management, Finance and Planning teams and ability to apply that knowledge to analysis and recommendations (to frame application).
 
Work Hours:
 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
