The Security Engineer provides Information Technology security engineering, integration services, technical assessments, and solutions. This includes analyzing the IA/Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) environment, defining system security requirements, designing system security architectures, assessing information protection effectiveness.
This position is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and/or integration of an IA architecture, system, or system components for use within Computing Environment (CE), Network Environment (NE) and enterprise environments. They ensure the architecture and design of Information Systems are functional and secure.
Responsibilities include:
Identifying information protection needs for the environment
Defining security requirements in accordance with applicable IA policies providing input on IA security requirements to be included in appropriate program documents; supporting program manager to ensure IA architecture and systems engineering requirements are properly addressed throughout the lifecycle
designing security architectures for use within the environment
designing and developing IA or IA-enabled products for use within the environment; developing and implementing security designs
ensuring the design of hardware, operating systems, and software applications adequately address IA security requirements
develop IA architectures and designs for National Security Systems with multiple security categorizations
develop IA architectures and designs for systems and networks processing multilevel security requirements
ensure security deficiencies identified during security/certification testing have been mitigated, corrected, or a risk acceptance has been obtained.
Provide input to IA and A&A process activities and related documentation participate in an IS risk assessment during the A&A process
provide engineering support to security/certification test and evaluation activities
document system security design features and provide input to implementation plans and standard operating procedures
ensure the implementation of IA policies into system architecture.
Apply knowledge of IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, test and accredit a secure enclave/enterprise environment. Advanced knowledge of IA, CIO policies and procedures. CISSP Certification. At least 4 years experience in IA Security Engineering. Bachelor’s degree.
An active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US citizenship is required.
