About the Position:
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the development of the annual budget and semi-annual update for the Brand. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of basic accounting processes, income statement/balance sheet/cash flow impact of financial decisions, as well as discounted cash flow and return on invested capital analyses. The ability to think strategically, provide thought leadership and seek opportunities for continuous improvement is highly preferred. This position is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the field of Retail.
Responsibilities:
Develop (or assist in the development of) the annual budget and semi-annual update for the Division, including Store Payroll, 4-wall and Direct expenses.
Liaise with the Accounting department to resolve transaction and variance related issues during the month-end close process, to deliver an accurate and timely close.
Manage the monthly expense reconciliation and projection process, partnering with expense owners or brand partners to understand variance drivers and inform forward looking projections.
Manage the Store Payroll projection process, including updating workforce hours, sales drivers, rate information, etc. Manage various other payroll reporting needs.
Assist the Field/Store Operations team by identifying expense savings opportunities, and developing relevant reporting and steering project related initiatives.
Create ad-hoc analyses and various other reporting across brands and channels as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration required.
2-4 years of business experience in corporate finance/financial planning and analysis role, or related finance/analytical role.
Advanced MS Excel skills are mandatory for this role, must be an MS Excel power user with advanced spreadsheet management/financial model building skills and ability to easily manipulate large volumes of data, build and use advanced macros/pivot tables/v- and h-lookups, etc.
Strong knowledge of basic accounting processes, income statement/balance sheet/cash flow impact of financial decisions, as well as discounted cash flow and return on invested capital analyses.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills to provide thought leadership and identify financial, operational and process improvement opportunities.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills, ability to present a cohesive story or solution to management.
Must deal effectively with ambiguities and be able to manage multiple projects through completion, often under tight deadlines. Flawless attention to detail and ability to consistently generate a high quality work product.
Motivated, creative and conscientious self-starter who appreciates challenges and takes ownership to improve the status quo.
Must exhibit an interest in the business and seek opportunities to initiate (without being instructed) new analysis, reporting or projects to support the company. Must be focused on continuous improvement with an ability to add value and efficiencies across all current practices.
Knowledge and experience in SAP and Cognos preferred
