Anticipates, analyzes and troubleshoots problems with deliveries and devises cost-effective and legal solutions; and acts to implement same. Interprets state and federal regulations. Ensure optimum delivery reliability to the customer by developing efficient and effective production flow processes and identifying process improvement and cost reduction strategies that are in line with business objectives. Participates in strategic planning by identifying short and long-term strategies for transportation.
Counsels, consults, communicates, instructs and monitors direct-reporting employees in acceptable practices and department and Company policies and procedures.
Monitors production goals and maintains a zero-error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Manages inventory losses by identifying any inconsistencies, determining their causes and implementing appropriate changes to ensure division loss is kept to a minimum.
Analyze daily performance measures; identify any weaknesses and recommend changes to the Director of Operations to ensure that division/company productivity objectives are achieved.
Lead and manage all aspects of the Safety, Environmental Health, and Security programs within the plant.
Monitors and implements environmental programs established by company policy and legal requirements. Maintain a working knowledge of refrigeration and environmental related areas. Manage EPA responsibilities.
Communicate and Collaborate with multiple departments including Human Resources, Operations, Corporate Safety, and Legal.
Assist in ensuring proper training and compliance to company EHS policies and procedures involving contractor and vendor personnel.
Maintain documentation in support of EHS Initiatives and requirements
Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, to ensure safety regulation compliance
Drive a culture of compliance with company, state, and safety requirements and policies
Develop safety training topics; train associates; lead the safety training for new-hire orientation including forklift certification; be available as a resource to associates.
Provide continuous safety awareness and training; work with managers to handle safety relates issues
Meet with safety committees to recommend corrective actions to management regarding workplace safety procedures, audits, and future safety projects
Full knowledge and understanding of local, state, DOT, and federal OSHA requirements
Provide direction and leadership on security procedures, emergency policies, regulations and company processes
Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED required, four year college degree preferred.
Related Experience: A minimum of five years in transportation/delivery in a supervisory role
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Computer skills, inventory control, supervisory/leadership skills, familiarity with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements. Ability to openly and effectively communicate with all associates/departments within the company. Ability to handle day-to-day operations
