Senior Database Administrator (Government)

AT&T - HONOLULU, Hawaii

You will be a member of an Information Technology group responsible for Operating, Administering and Maintaining (OA&M) systems supporting the delivery of advanced telecommunication services to the Defense Information Systems Agency.

This position is responsible for all activities related to the administration, planning, and development of computerized databases. Additionally, incumbent will be responsible for the formulation and/or implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to data base management, and security maintenance. Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • maintain all related activities for the administration, planning and development of computerized databases, formulation and/or implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to database management, database security, daily data management and maintenance, new software implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • This position will also be responsible for acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the PCR 360 application used as the primary interface for provisioning services, providing configuration management and billing. Additional responsibilities will include responding to customer trouble tickets, providing Tier II support to the IT and Engineering groups in assisting with design solutions for IT infrastructure, acting as the lead interface to Professional Computing Resources (PCR) to support upgrades, enhancements and addressing customer issues.

The Information Technology Group has a core function within AT&T Hawaii Network Services (HNS) and is responsible to ensure that all software and hardware are operational and productive. This group is responsible to identifying, tracking, and repairing troubles within AT&T HNS Information Technology (IT) Network. The selectee will be expected to support the legacy AT&T JHITS network until the transition to HNS is completed.

Must be able to work independently with limited supervision/guidance. Occasional shift work required.
SKILLS: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of (5) and preferably (10) years experience maintaining Oracle Databases, version 10/later as well as knowledge of Datavault and Advanced Security Option (ASO) modules.
The selectee needs to have experience with the PCR COMIT, PCR 360 provisioning systems or with a comparable service delivery/configuration management platform. The DBA will possess strong customer service and communication skills, strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and ability to work with personnel within and outside of the IT group.

EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Computer Science or a related technology field is desirable but not required for a well experienced candidate. Other evidence of technical accomplishments and related technology leadership experiences will be considered.

Active DoD Secret Clearance

As an IT Level II System Administrator, an 8570.1 certification (Security or comparable) will be required to access the network. Desired: Experience with MySQL database, VMware and ESXi, Storage Area Network (SAN) devices, Linux/Unix Operating systems is highly desirable. Previous military service or experience working with DoD customers on a military base/site is also desirable.
