Senior-Network Design Engineer

AT&T - BOTHELL, Washington

DUTIES: Work with SME engineers and systems support specialists. Provide the network design, configuration, backhaul VLAN bandwidth, and all necessary IP assignments required by AT&T Mobility Network infrastructure. Develop Engineering Design Packages (EDPs) containing network designs for wireless, Ethernet, Microwave and broadband infrastructure. Perform capacity management for network elements. Apply the necessary tools and engineering principles for capacity management. Design the network infrastructure in accordance with the approved guidelines. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for various ALU network elements such as 7670, 7750, and the 5620 NMS Server. Design Core Network Architecture including Transport Backhaul such as Gigabit-Ethernet Collectors, EMUX, Microwave, and UNIs. Deliver IP, ATM, TDM, and OCX networking design using the ALU Multi Service Nodes (MSNs) such as ALU7670, ALU7750. Perform network designing using Command Line Interface (CLI). Work with Capacity Management (eCAP) Labs, product development, engineering teams to author process documentation, methods, procedures, and guidelines for current networking planning, capacity management, and network builds. Coordinate and interface with internal customers to ensure service commitments are met. Use engineering tools, various software applications, and databases to assist in creating the engineering documents. Prepare and oversee Capacity Management reports, presentations, negotiations, installation, problem resolution, and multivendor product integration. Provide initial implementation support of networks to assure proper execution and provide resolution for system failures or degradation. Provide project management and documentation as required. Perform a variety of responsibilities as a senior individual contributor engineer with high degree. Perform analysis and relief sizing and time for Layer 2/3 growth. Trigger hardware relief projects to Implementation Engineering and trigger facility order request. Produce current and future traffic forecast and manage Capital and/or expense budgets. Act as a Consultant Liaison for hardware, facility request and vendors. Provide technical expertise to Labs for and testing and Product evaluations.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science or Engineering and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or five (5) years of experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert ( SME) for various ALU network equipment such as 7670, 7750, and the 5620 NMS Server; designing Core Network Architecture including Transport Backhaul such as Gigabit-Ethernet Collectors, EMUX, Microwave, and UNIs; performing IP, ATM, TDM, and OCX networking using the ALU Multi Service Nodes (MSNs) such as ALU7670, ALU7750; and performing network designing using Command Line Interface (CLI).
