High Touch Customer Service Representative

Primary Purpose of Position:
Responsible for meeting and exceeding Program customers' needs, assisting Sales in
meeting company goals and solidifying customers' relationships with Staples Promotional Products.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Take inbound calls to meet program customers’ ordering needs. Process program and non program orders received by phone, fax and email accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Assist customers with returns, questions and concerns striving to exceed the customers' expectations.
  • Make outbound calls proactively and reactively to inform customers of closeout merchandise, liquidate dead or in house inventory, follow up on orders, confirm receipt of catalogs and clarify fax and mail orders.
  • Utilize cross selling and up selling techniques to increase customers' inbound program phone orders.
  • Maintain and build relationships with program customers by following through on commitments, working with other departments to meet customer needs and express appreciation for their business. Take ownership/responsibility for assisting customers to find a solution.
  • Occasional Job Duties:
  • Assist Sales Assistants with program management, sourcing and resolving customer needs.
  • Assist Program Planners and Program Administrators.
  • Assist in the training of other employees.


Basic:

  • High School graduate with one or more special courses such as computers, typing, speech and communication skills
  • 1 to 2 years general experience (Experience should include customer contact, sales and phone work)


Preferred:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which also includes listening
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude throughout the shift, which includes a pleasant phone voice and professional manner
  • Outstanding problem solving skills
  • Good Microsoft Office Skills including word and excel
  • Knowledge of using search engines, cutting & pasting, moving through multiple windows and keyboarding skills
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of customer service and accuracy
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Able to adhere at all times to assigned schedule
  • Ability to sit for entire shift
